Welcome to my personal website. Here you'll find information about myself and what I do.
My name is Kent Frauendienst. I'm what you might call a video game enthusiast - I've been playing games as a pastime for my whole life, and am very passionate about them. My personal interests include, alongside games (both playing and creating them), tabletop and trading card games, technology, and all sorts of gadgetry. I like to tinker with things, and I think that may go back to having so many Legos as a kid.
Only being limited to my imagination and the parts and pieces at hand, I take an approach to designing games that's similar to how one might fiddle with a toy like Legos: Think up something that's fun, and go with it. If it turns out better than expected, run with it; otherwise, ask what's not so much fun about it. The key component to games is that they be fun. This, I think, is the real art behind a great game: Great games are entertaining by virtue of the fact that they are fun to play - much like how great music and cinema evoke varying levels of emotional responses in their partakers, as can a great game. It could be a relatively-simplistic feeling of deep satisfaction coming from conquering Seven Force on Expert mode of Gunstar Heroes, or it could come from coming to terms with the initially mind-bending mechanics of games like Portal or Braid.
Games - like any other form of art - can make for incredible human experiences. It's just up to us to make these experiences come to life. This is my goal.
